Leveraging Health Data for Actionable Insights
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) has launched a new signature research program, Health Data for Action (HD4A), which seeks to fund up to five innovative, rigorous research studies that leverage health data to draw actionable insights to help inform health policy and build a Culture of Health. Supported by AcademyHealth, the first Call for Proposals (CFP) will make data from the Health Care Cost Institute and athenahealth available to successful applicants (applicants will need to select one of these two datasets).
Building a national Culture of Health is RWJF’s central focus. A Culture of Health is one where all are enabled to lead healthier lives, now and for generations to come. RWJF believes deeply in the importance of research, evaluation, and learning to build a transdisciplinary evidence base that helps inform efforts to improve health, well-being, and equity. And, RWJF recognizes that access to rich data is a cornerstone of producing such timely and objective research.
Applications for this solicitation must be submitted electronically. For more information on the selection criteria, use of grant funds, and application instructions, visit the RWJF Website. Application Deadline: Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 3:00 pm ET.
The recommended project funding is up to $150,000 per project to accommodate studies of up to 12 months. Proposals can focus on a broad range of topics including health care spending, utilization, and prices; trends in private insurance and the employer-sponsored insurance market, geographic disparities, and obesity.
Webinar will detail funding opportunity
Join a May 2, 2017 webinar to hear from staff at the Foundation, AcademyHealth, and the data experts from the Health Care Cost Institute and athenahealth to learn about how HD4A fits with the Foundation’s efforts to build a Culture of Health and more about this specific funding opportunity. Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions about the funding opportunity, the data, and the grantmaking process.
